We are a boy-led troop, which means that to the greatest extent possible, the scouts run their troop meetings, decide in which events they will participate, where they will go each month for their outings, and to what degree and how quickly they will pursue advancement opportunities. While we encourage and support the scouts' goals, and hope each will someday attain the rank of Eagle Scout, we also expect them and their families to pursue the work involved to achieve those goals.
The troop adult leaders will work with and help scouts to learn and advance, but the scouts must show the interest and motivation to do so. Much of the learning will take place on our monthly outings. We find this helps the young men in our troop to actually learn the various scout skills and know how to apply them rather than just learning them in a classroom-like setting at troop meetings for the short term goal of getting another badge.
