Hiking Series 2025
We’re kicking off the 2025 hiking series with a great lineup of day hikes to get everyone out on the trail this spring and summer. Whether you're looking to build endurance, work toward the Hiking Merit Badge, or just enjoy some great hikes, this is a great way to get started. Our big goals this season are the 20-mile San Juan Historic Trails hike over Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26) and the 20-mile Enchantments Traverse (August 29-31). Between now and May, we’ve got three 10-mile hikes planned to help everyone build up to the challenge. If you’re thinking about tackling one of the big ones to complete your Hiking Merit Badge, these day hikes will be a great way to prepare!

Games operate on quarters, and are $0.25 to $1.00 per play. Bring what you need. Scouts are NOT free! There is NOT a snack bar at quarters. Depart Quarters at 3:45pm for the 4:15pm Ferry. Hey Scouts! We've got an EPIC Memorial Day Weekend Campout planned for this spring! Highlights!

To earn the award you must learn about the historic significance of the area (the Pig War, in this case), hike or camp for two days and one night near the trail, and complete a service/restoration project for the trail.
Visit Lime Kiln State Park (great whale-watching spot!)
Tour the Wolf Hollow Animal Rehab Center
Visit a Whale Museum
Earn the Paul Bunyan Award
Possible Surveying Merit Badge (prerequisite is the Geocaching or Orienteering MB). Max of 6 Scouts; priority to older scouts.
Stay at Camp Bogardus for 3 nights with tons of fun activities offered. Hammock-sleeping is welcome!
We'll depart on the ferry from Anacortes on Friday, May 23rd for Friday Harbor and set-up camp for the night. Saturday we'll tour the American Camp at the SE end of the island. Scouts will have the option of doing a 20-mile hike (for the Hiking Merit Badge AND Historic Trails Award) or a shorter 3-mile hike (for the Historic Trails Award) and visit to Lime Kiln State Park/whale museum and on to English Camp. Sunday will include a Service Project (for HT Award), Surveying MB, and visit to Animal Rehab Center. Monday we will break down camp and return home via the Friday Harbor/Anacortes Ferry. Hi all. Just a note to tell you about some shooting sports opportunities for Scouting at Camp Pigott. At this time the troop has no plans to attend as a group, but if anyone feels inspired to organize a group outing to one of these events, let me know. Otherwise, sign up with your family and grab a friend if you'd like. Sign-up for all of these is on tentaroo. Note that the Scouts who go through the Shooting Sports Basic Trainings will have the opportunity to complete all elements of the merit badge; however, each of these merit badges has shooting qualifications that can be tricky for scouts. Most scouts will be able to complete the Rifle qualifications, but Shotgun qualifications are harder and usually scouts do not complete Shotgun qualifications on their first attempt. Make sure you talk with your Scoutmaster to get a blue card before the event if you plan on working on your merit badge. Let me know if you have any questions!
